Dina Nicolaides -
Artist | Photographer | Botanical Sculptor
I'm Dina, a contemporary artist based in Kerikeri Bay of Islands NZ.
My photographic art begins with the natural world and a curiosity about its patterns, textures, shapes and relationships.
Using techniques including double exposure, I bring images together to reveal unexpected ways of seeing familiar subjects.
I work intuitively, adjusting form and colour until the elements come into harmony.
Through Konstant Imagery, I invite viewers to pause, look more closely and find their own meaning in what lies beyond the visible.
Education and Affiliations:
My creative process is guided by curiosity and visual response. I experiment, refine and balance each composition, adjusting colour and detail until the image feels resolved. When an image no longer engages me, I allow it to rest. Sometimes, returning with fresh eyes reveals a direction I had not previously considered.
My work has evolved from the delicate intricacies of dahlias towards the sculptural geometry of succulents and cacti, and the striking radial forms of kina and sea urchins. These subjects offer endless opportunities to explore repetition, symmetry, contrast and the remarkable structures found in nature.
I am interested in what happens when observation becomes interpretation — when photography moves beyond recording a subject and becomes a way of discovering something new within it.
